Over the last few months, meaningful data has been collected from West Side residents about their needs, concerns, and wishes for their neighborhood. The survey itself was custom-tailored to the West Side: the Working Groups, made up of local residents and advocates, each provided questions and issues to be included. The survey covered topics like housing, transportation, the local economy, public safety, youth and education, and public health.
In total, 165 surveys were collected. The survey results will be posted online and distributed at local events this summer, so stay tuned!

Situated in the City’s southwest quadrant, Asbury Park’s West Side is a neighborhood with challenges and opportunities.
Using a HUD Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant, the Asbury Park Housing Authority and the City of Asbury Park are leading a diverse team of stakeholders and residents to create a collective vision for the West Side. The plan will lay the groundwork for providing equitable housing for the city’s most vulnerable residents, designing amenity-rich pedestrian friendly blocks, and creating tailored supportive services that meet residents’ most pressing needs. Revitalizing Lincoln Village and the West Side will not only increase opportunities for residents, but will also further establish Asbury Park as a vibrant commuter community within the New York Metropolitan Area.
