The City of Asbury Park has one public school district as well as a number of charter, independent, and vocational schools within its border and in neighboring cities. The Asbury Park School District is one of 31 SDA Districts, wherein the state must cover all costs for school building and renovation projects in high-need districts. The district is classified by the state as District Factor Group a�?A,a�? the lowest of eight groupings according to socioeconomic status.
There are no higher education institutions in the city, the closest being Monmouth University in West Long Branch. Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Vocational School District are additional regional assets.
